DaVero Farm and Winery’s Owner Ridgely Evers Talks with Ua

Healdsburg California is home to DaVero Farms and Winery. Over thirty years ago, Owner Ridgely Evers and his team began importing olive trees from Tuscany to produce their stellar oils, which have been a favorite of chef Mario Batali, who serves it at Babbo in New York City. Italian varietals Sangiovese and the unique Umbrian Sagrantino and the grapes planted on the biodynamic property, which go into many of the 18 different wines produced.  A 1994 Paolo Bea Sagrantino di Montefalco, which Evers first tasted at Batali’s Babbo, convinced him that this was the wine he wanted to produce.

Evers discusses the Mediterranean climate in Sonoma which led to the selection of these particular grape varieties. Tune in to hear his discussion of his land, the animals that range freely and his olive groves.  Later in the week, we share the tasting of his DaVero wines, which will be great for the holidays.
